Memorial Day Weekend

While I'd love to report that we had a great Memorial Day Weekend out on the river or a lake, that's just not the case! :) It was actually just a lazy weekend, with Monday added into the mix as well, which is totally fine by me!!

Friday after Lake & I got home from work we went to Espana, it's a new tapas bar off of Hausman & I-10, anyway, we met up with my department chair, Anabelle, & some of her friends. It was fun & the food was good! We left there around 6:30 & went to the movies to see Angels and Demons. It was good, long, but good. I personally liked DaVinci Code better, but it's still a good movie. After the movie it was time for bed!

Saturday we woke up bright & early to attend our very 1st day of half-marathon/marathon training. Lake is running the full & I am doing the half in November. Anyway, we had a time trial & I was super nervous about it, I guess it was because I was going to be running against other people, not like it's a race or anything, but still. So the half-ers ran 2 miles & the full-ers ran 3 miles. I did OK, nothing really to brag about, I'm hoping to improve & get myself in the group above me! The run was down hill the 1st half & up hill the 2nd, geee, thanks! Lake did good as well, once we were done I realized that my nervousness was really for nothing. OH well! :) After running, we ruined it all by eating breakfast at Panera, yum-o! After cleaning up I went to the mall to get my hair cut, but couldn't get an appointment till Monday, so I went back home & took a nap & watched TV. Lake was hanging with Mark all day, so I took over sushi for Kathleen & I to have, I love SUSHI ZUSHI! I have tried other places here in SA & they are good, but the Zush is just really convenient!

Sunday, I did absolutely NOTHING! Really I have nothing to type, becuase I did nothing!

Monday, we got up early, ran our required amount of running for the day, then I went & got a hair cut & a pedicure. I didn't really do anything different with my hair, just cleaned it up a bit, it was starting to look like a mop, so it needed to be cut! After that Lake & I went to lunch at SoLuna & then went down to the new part of the RiverWalk, which is really really pretty. It was soooo hot though!!! Last night I just made dinner & Lake cleaned the leather in my car, after that we just watched TV, last night it was The Bachlorette, Jon & Kate Plus 8, & The Hills. That was it, in the middle of the night though, we had HUGE thunderstorms pass thru our area, the lightning & thunder were crazy, kept me up for awhile....grrrrr!

Guess that's the weekend wrap up! I'm super pumped about next weekend. I'm driving down to the valley on Friday during the day, Lake can't come with :( which I'm sad about, but I understand work needs him. So Friday night I am co-hosting a baby shower for Monica in McAllen, Saturday night I'm going to my dad's aunt & uncle's 50th Anniversary Party in Mission, then out for Cristina's 27th b-day. And on Sunday I'm co-hosting a baby shower for my sister in law Leah in McAllen, WOAH, it's going to be a crazy weekend, but really fun! :)

Get Over It!

so it's official, America voted & America decided that their "American Idol" would be Kris Allen! I'm going to keep my blog today short & sweet, for those people who believe that America "got it wrong" or "Adam was robbed" you obviously didn't vote & support your contestant, so get over it! It's hard to compare the 2 performers, they are just too different, but just because of that, doesn't mean anyone should berate Kris or his victory, he earned it! Be a gracious loser & again....Get Over It! I just read an article on yahoo that interviewed Adam backstage, post results, he was gracious, happy, & excited for Kris & for his own future, I gotta say...that's a class act. Good for him!

Take a look...if ya have the time:

Easter Weekend

So I just realized that I always post on Tuesdays.....hmmmm, don't know why, I guess that's when I find that I have extra time?? Who knows....

Anyway, our Easter weekend was pretty uneventful for the most part. Since I had Friday off Lake & I went to celebrate with dinner at Bin555, which has now become one of my favorite restaurants in all of San Antonio! I just really really really like it! I'm contemplating having my b-day dinner there in July, we'll see though. The menu can be kind of confusing, so I'm not sure if it would work really well with a large group, but it's "Spanish Tapas" & that's the whole point, to eat in a big group & share, so, well, we'll see, I have a few months.

So yeah, I had Friday off, so I didn't do a darn thing! I cleaned up around the house a bit, did laundry & ran, Friday night Lake & I went out to dinner & that was all, pretty uneventful, but it was so nice to just relax!

Saturday Lake & his did work on the backyard, so I just kind of layed around all day, again....very lazy! I finished my laundry & then once Lake was done we went to Central Market to get stuff for dinner. We ended up just having an amazing appetizer tray (brie, white cheddar, blue cheese, manchego, chorizo, olives, hummus, & toasted sourdough bread), ahhhh, it was wonderful! We watched K-Pax b/c Lake had never seen it before & we were just talking about it, he liked it, but thought it was a little depressing. Anyway, that was pretty much our Saturday.

Easter Sundy we woke up, went to church, & then had lunch at Pappasito's with Lake's parents. When we got home I really wanted to go out & do something, but we ended up taking a nap! haha. Sunday night we went to Sushi Zushi for dinner & then went to the movies to see Observe & Report, terrible terrible terrible movie! Not funny, not anything, just BAD! so whatever....

I also had yesterday off, so I was on a mission to find a totally awesome 80's outfit for a themed b-day party that Lake & I are going to on Saturday. After a morning of nothing, I finally found lots & lots of stuff at Forever 21, who knew the 80's were back. I'm sorry, but the whole colored skinny jean thing is UGLY! I did purchase a pair of lavendar ones for the party, but they are from Forever 21, so they were cheap! Anyway, after I got back from the mall I went grocery shopping, then made dinner, went for a jog, & finally did some stuff for work.
Have a great rest of the week!!

Weekend in Galveston

So we spent the entire weekend in Galveston, it was such a fun time, but I'm still really tired from it! My brother, Demitri, was participating in his 2nd triatholon there & we, along with my 20 week pregnant sister in law Leah, her parents, & my parents were there to cheer him on! He did really great too, it was probably all because of us! :) But seriously, he ended finishing 146th out of 1200 participants!!

Other than attending the triatholon, we really didn't have too much more going on. Friday night we just had dinner, Saturday was the race, after the race we went to eat lunch & then down to The Strand & walked on the beach. There were soooo many people out this weekend! Saturday night we went to dinner with my parents & Sunday we drove back. We were home around 2:00 or so, so that was good. Anyway, that's pretty much it. Oh yeah, one more thing, we also found out that my brother & Leah are expecting a little girl! :) She should arrive late August! soooo excited to have another neice!

Tony Danza.....ahem, I mean 'Tiny Dancer'

Well, so the weekend is coming to an end...booo! OH well, it was a great weekend at least!

Friday night Lake & I had dinner at Roaring Fork, by the way, if you live in San Antonio & haven't eaten there, I highly recommend it! The food is great! Especially the Ahi Tuna Tartare & the fish tacos. To drink I say get the Blood Orange Margarita, sweet & tangy, it's super good! :) Anyway, after dinner we went & saw "I Love You, Man," it was good, pretty funny, a little raunchy, but all in all ok. I think it's going to be one of those movies that the more times I see it, the funnier it'll get. So, we'll see what happens when it's out on HBO. While at the movies I saw one of my old cheerleaders which was great b/c when you're a teacher, especially in HS, you kind of miss your old kids & it's cool to see them get older & more mature, and especially my old cheerleaders, I spent so much time with them over the years, so I miss 'em, sort of... ; )
Saturday during the day, I went for a jog, which didn't turn out great, oh well, I'm getting back into it, so it'll take some time to build my mileage. Lake "scalped" the lawn which he says has to be done early on in the spring. I just hope it rains this week, like it's supposed to. (FINGERS CROSSED!) Anyway, I went to the mall after to get a shower present for Micah & Lake his b-day present. (His b-day is Tuesday, the big 2-8!), then I got home & started getting ready for dinner & the concert. We had planned on eating at Acenar downtown, but traffic was a mess around that area so we went to Rosario's instead. We had to wait for a bit & we ate in a hurry, but oh well. We got to the AT&T Center with about 20 minutes or so to spare. Real random, I ran into my friend Adrianna in the bathroom, haha, & her sister. I knew they were going to be there, but I didn't expect to run into them there! haha. Anyway, Lake & I got to our seats & it was just alllll sooooooo great! Great songs, great show! Not gonna lie, I was really just wanting to see Sir Elton John, but Billy Joel was so great! Sooooo great! My fave was when the two of them played together (beginning & end of the show). They opened up with "Your Song" which is a special song for Lake & I.

Quick flashback to 2 years ago.......
Lake & I were in Vegas & went up to the Eiffel Tower to watch the Bellagio Fountains from up there, or so I thought. Next thing I know, I'm watching the fountains & they are playing "Your Song" & Lake gets down on one knee & is proposing.....anyway, the song holds a special place in my heart b/c of that reason. :)

Back to the concert....they closed with "Piano Man" & all in all, wonderful show!!! :)

Today has been lazy, I've just been cleaning, doing laundry & loading pictures & video from last night, which I'll post below...enjoy! have a great week! :)

1st Post....eeeeesh!

Well, alright then! I actually meant to start this blog after Lake & I's one year wedding anniversary, but I haven't really had too much time to do it, so it's a couple weeks past when I wanted, but whatev! I'm trying to watch less TV, so that's kind of where the idea of "blogging" came from. Of course, I still have my shows that I must watch (American Idol, America's Next Top Model, The Bachelor, Dancing With the Stars, Big Love, & Grey's Anatomy), but other than those, I'm trying to cut back. There's really no reason to just have the TV on as background noise, or at least that's my thinking.

Anyway, I'm not really sure what I'm wanting this blog to be, but I guess just like a chronical of the Ellis' life & whatnot. We're pretty boring, but we take fun trips, so that's semi-interesting, I guess!

As far as for the present, let's seeee.....

well tonight we're having a "date" night & going to have dinner at Roaring Fork & then we're going to see 'I Love You Man', I'll let ya know how it is. Lake loves Paul Rudd, as I'm sure we all do! Anyway, it looks funny, I just hope it's not stupid humor & is semi-smart humor. We'll see.......Tomorrow night I'm waaaaaaay pumped for! We're going to see Elton John & Billy Joel at the AT&T Center! I've been waiting since August to see Elton John. Lake had actually gotten us tickets to see him at Caesar's Palace in Vegas on Aug. 2nd, but it was the last night he was going to be playing there & he decided to cancel that date, I wasn't happy. I especially wasn't happy b/c the way Lake found out was by randomly checking his online credit card statement & seeing a refund for the concert. So yeah, we still went to Vegas & had a great time, we actually saw KA at MGM Grand, which was amazing! Long story short, I've been waiting a while to see Sir Elton! :) That's pretty much our weekend. I'm just glad that week is over. The first week back from Spring Break is always rough for me, especially when I know that other people are still on SB, haha. Guess I'm pretty much done for now.

One more thing.....Happy 3rd Birthday to our neice Lauren! :)
